Losing It ... Valerie Bertinelli's story

Losingitcover So I just finished the new book by Valerie Bertinelli, Losing It ... And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time. I really wanted to read it because being a child of the 70's, I used to love watching the sitcom she was in, "One Day at a Time", with Bonnie Franklin and McKenzie Phillips.  Sure, the show was a little corny, but it was good for a laugh or two.

Her life story is pretty interesting and quite a roller coaster ride!  She has two brothers and had an older brother who died suddenly at 19 months.  She has constantly battled weight gain and has tried every dieting fad under the sun.  Her marriage to rocker, Eddie Van Halen, was quite tumultuous with drugs, alcohol and all the trappings of a rock star lifestyle.  Both of them were equally into addiction and infidelity and it's unbelievable that they stayed married for over 25 years!

After being married for ten years, they decided they really wanted to have a child together.  Their son, Wolfgang, named after Eddie's favorite composer, Mozart, is now 16 and sometimes tours with his dad's band and plays bass guitar.  Apparently he is quite talented and leaves the audience clamoring for more.  Wolfie, as she calls him, is the light of her life.

The other main subject of Valerie's story, is her success with the Jenny Craig weight loss program and is thrilled to have lost 40 pounds so far...and counting.  She loves the way she looks and feels and has changed her eating habits drastically and vows not to let herself "go back there".  Each chapter in her book starts off with her weight at that time and she talked about food a LOT so it was hard not to think about food and resisting the urge while reading!  But her story has a happy ending ~ she found the love of her life, Tom, and has remained great friends with Eddie Van Halen.

Until next time ... have a great rest of the day!

Susan
