“Do you have your business card?” A simple request can be difficult to answer to if unprepared.
I was at the gym, working out to my normal routine, when I suddenly bumped into an important lead I'd been chasing for months.
No way was I about to let a chance to finally connect with this person pass me by. Don’t laugh—I actually pulled out a card from my pants pocket.
The frustration brought about by missed opportunities taught me the significance of having my business cards on me at all times. I carry them in my purse, gym bag, briefcase, computer case, and car; I even keep a card or two in my pocket so that when that serendipitous moment occurs, I’m ready.

Great tip Elisabeth. I keep 3 or more business cards in my wallet, my iPod case, and in every jacket's right front pocket. I also try to handwrite some personal information when I can, like my private email address or cell phone number or a notes related to what we were talking about.
