Last Wednesday the Rochester Women's Network celebrated their 4th Annual SPLASH! event to honor the many involved members who keep this Rochester organization in the news and running smoothly. The event was also to showcase one deserving member with the "W" award - given to a local woman who "works tirelessly on behalf of women; supports and empowers women to learn, grow, and succeed by example, inspires women through her courage, initiative and creative energy, and exemplifies a high standard of integrity and respect for others."
Our own Kitty Van Bortel of Van Bortel Subaru and Van Bortel Ford was this year's "W" winner. We congratulate her and enoucrage readers to read a full report of the event and Kitty's contribution to Rochester women over at the Lipsticking blog where guest blogger, Donna DeClemente, has a complete overview of the event.
Kitty was taken completely by surprise at winning this award, and appeared humbled to have such an honor bestowed upon her. She said, "I honestly thank you. I have many wonderful roles as a woman, mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Being in a position to set an example for women starting a business - I honestly have never been more proud to be a woman."
Six other exemplary women were finalists in this esteemed award ceremony: Regine Calvar, Jackie Campbell, Catherine Cerulli, Sheila Gaddis, and Angella Luyk. These women are all to be congratulated and applauded for their accomplishments. They join Kitty in providing positive business examples to other Rochester area women thinking of starting a business of their own. The Rochester Women's Network has handed this award to women such as Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, Carol Love, Cynthia Herriott and Germaine Knapp, among others.
We are truly honored to have this year's "W" Award Winner as a member blogger on the Womens Entrepreneur's Blog at Simon.
